Hello,
We are in August already & we have a project completed (yeah)!! John Heath (Marie’s
husband) has donated his time & materials and made bird houses for us to sell - THANK YOU
SO MUCH FOR YOUR HARD WORK JOHN! Marie has worked hard to sell these & everyone
that helped & bought one for our program, THANK YOU ALL!! We are splitting the proceeds
between 3 programs (Fisher House, National Home & Veterans Needs). We have a lot of
work still ahead of us & we are working to get this going.
We attended the District 21 Kick-Off meeting and received our upcoming Program Book.
Also, we have new Cancer Pins @ $3.00 each (we have 25 of them), so please buy one to
help this program. These proceeds go towards our Cancer Aid & Research Program; if you
would like to buy one, please contact me as this is a very important program.
The Birthday Celebration will be August 24, 2008 at 4 pm with the food theme being Appetizer
Dishes & karaoke will be at 5 pm. Come & join in the fun !!
We are still sending Troop Care Packages to our Adopt-A-Unit in Iraq; if you have any
donations to bring (snack food, microwave food, etc.) please bring it for the next mail out.
2008-2009 dues are being collected. They are due by December 31, 2008 to be a member
in good standing!!
The Ladies Auxiliary would like to start a new program which would benefit our Veterans
Needs, MAP Program and a few other programs for this 2008-2009 year. We would like
members to bring in their old, broken or used cell phones (which we all keep once we get a
new one) in order to recycle them to buy prepaid calling cards for our troops overseas. This
business was advertised and is called Cell Phones for Soldiers. The old cell phones are
recycled and the money is given to the business. The money received from the phones will
be used to buy prepaid calling cards for troops overseas. Their web site is www.
cellphonesforsoldiers.com and there is cell phone data eraser (free) you can download and
erase your phone before bringing them in.
PRAY FOR OUR TROOPS THAT THEY COME HOME SAFE & SOON.
